As you can see, I cannot do the feather stitch correctly. However, this is the best I have done to date. The stitch requires too much twisting of the hand and aggravates my carpal tunnel problems. While I had the carpal tunnel surgery 2 years ago, I still get pain if I twist my hand. It is disappointing not to be able to do the most important crazy quilt stitch.
A forum discussing all aspects of quilting, with a special emphasis on hand work. I will be temporarily changing the content of my blog posts as I recover from carpal tunnel and spine surgeries. You may see crochet projects, pattern designs, or photos of what's happening in Chicago. However, instead of publishing a post twice a week I will be publishing a post twice a month.

TAST - Feather Stitch

I too suffer from carpal tunnel at times. My chiropractor helps me out with it gets really bad.
But, when I stitch I use the "poke and pull" method and this helps. Trying to do the needle down...and then back up by twisting the needle around aggravates me too. When I just needle down...and pull the thread almost all the way through, then needle up and put the thread it the proper place before pulling all the way through...it helps.
