Since Valentine's Day is in February I have chosen a book and a few patterns for redwork quilting. The Redwork From The Workbasket book that I reviewed in July, 2010 is a favorite of mine so I will be giving away a copy of it. Recently I found some new redwork patterns with winter scenes so I have ordered copies for both me and the giveaway winner.

Please note that entries from the U.S. And Canada are only accepted. I won't be having another international giveaway until Easter. I feel bad about this but the postage can be very expensive for international entries. A few of the giveaways that I have participated in the past cost me $100.00+ US dollars to mail, much more than the value of the giveaway item. Mailing through the U. S. Postal Service has poor service but is cheaper.
I read on a legal blog in November, 2010 that the U. S. Postal Service was considering filing for bankruptcy due to high worker's compensation claims. I think that they will go out of business because of the poor service. The employee's are rude and demand to know what is inside every envelope or box. They claim that they are required to ask since 9/11 happened which is untrue but the employee will turn you away if you don't tell them and will call security to escort you off of the premises. Ithink that it is really a way to find out if it is something that they want to steal. If you don't pay for a trackable Express or Priority Mail, you run the risk of theft. The reason why stamps are so high has been to increase employee benefits, mainly psycological treatment. Why don't they just fire the wackos, especially those that threaten to kill their co-workers. Enough of this soap box...
The Easter Giveaway will be spectacular to make up for leaving my overseas friends out of most of my giveaways this year. However, I have been thinking about hosting a giveway just for international bloggers. Stay tuned for more on this later in the year.

So glad to hear that you are doing better! And I agree with you about the postal employees. Most of them are horribly rude.
Thanks for the opportunity to enter your great giveaway!
I am a regular follower of your great blog.
I hear you with the post office. I was very fortunate in my last tiny town I lived in. I went almost every day and the post office workers were SO nice there. I was very spoiled.
Well I had to go last week here in my new state and oh my. It was like being slapped in the face repeatedly with how rude they were to me. It's completely ridiculous.
Anyway, I'm sorry to hear that your new made was making you feel ill. Isn't that the worst about meds? You always have to wonder what they'll do to you when you take them.
I'm a follower! Thanks for the great giveaway!
Redwork is so beautiful to do embroidery with!! Postal employees are under alot of stress to perform these days..so many post offices have closed and the profits within the postal system just aren't what they used to be..My sister works for the Post Office and said that with all of the layoffs and Post Offices closing, being a federal employee isn't what it used to be!
Oh this looks like a wonderful book! I would love to be entered to win your fantastic giveaway. Thank you.

I totally agree with you on the post office issue. Sometimes I rather use UPS or Fedex over the post office, depends on what I am mailing.

I fell in love with redwork many years ago. There's just something about the simpleness of a one color design.
I'm a new follower :)
A chance to win a redwork book?! Count me in! I've recently rediscovered stitchery, and am enjoying it again. Thank you for this lovely giveaway.
Hey there, Violet! I've just become a follower. Hope you're staying snug there in the snow. I'm glad YOU received that many inches when it's usually US who get it... in Iowa. We received only 7" in this storm. Yay!
What a nice giveaway. I just found your blog through Moon-Child and am now a follower. I live in the western suburbs and it's nice to know someone local.
Looking forward to following your blog

Thank you for posting about the snow! We get very little snow here in the Seattle area; as a native Minnesotan, I do miss the snow storms and the resulting slowed down lifestyle! Thanks for this giveaway opportunity! I have always wanted to learn embroidery skills so that I could make a redwork quilt!
What a great giveaway! Thanks for the chance to win.
